Writing + iPad joy + Seattle PHP meetup

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Well it has been a while since my last update and for good reason, as i mentioned we are moving the corporate site and that should be ready on Thursday in time for the PHP meetup where i will be presenting. With the development side currently rolling, it seems that the conteside is going pretty well, and i will be a guest writer at a couple of places.

The first place that i am actively writing at is mynetlet.com a interesting, community based site, where you can keep up to date with the latest news and buzz that is going on in the tablet pc market.mynetlet.com

If you are interested in tablet pcs’ and it is something to keep your eye on with the release of the iPad on April 3rd and the waves that is having with media outlets like the New York Times, internet service providers like Clear, and retail giant Best Buy.

So be sure to check out the site and keep up to date with what is happening, and as each site i am writing on gradually publishes some articles of mine i will be sure to keep the blog up to speed.

Update: New corporate site

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

This is just a quick note for those who have been asking as to what happened to the old Timani.net. Well after much deliberation and discussion we shall be merging with one of our partners.

under constructionAs a result i have decided to keep the site as a blog rather than leave it dormant, and have all the professional and business related information to be on our new corporate site.

The main reason for this was because as we continued to grow we realized that by merging we would be able to meet a lot more of the size requirements so we could offer better services and products to our clients.

All of our current clients have been made aware of the changes and so far it seems that they have been excited about the changes and the new features and products that we will be offering.

Stay tuned, we should be posting an update within the next few days, and thanks for the patience as we make the upgrades to better serve you.

Washington vs West Virginia Sweet 16 matchup free online!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Being a fan in the state of Washington isn’t what it used to be, the Sonics are gone, the Seahawks were terrible and the list goes on.

But the UW vs West Virginia Sweet 16 matchup in Syracuse sure looks like it may be a reason to celebrate. To add to that the UW were even the early featured on the NCAAB section of Yahoo! Sports. With the football looking like it is back on track too this could become a regular fixture one hopes.

The huskies are hot (finally) hot after what looked to be another doomed season after being 3-5 in PAC10 conference play, and hopefully the winning streak continues. After West Viriginia lost Darryl Bryant their starting point gaurd, i think the huskies should have this one in the bag, and finally get some satisfaction by moving to the Elite 8.

So for those of us who can not actually be in front of a tv, one of the cool things is that CBS is actually streaming the games online so i guess you can watch the game wherever you are.

Schedule

#11 Washington vs. #2 West Virginia
Thursday, March 25 at 4:27 p.m. (PT) Syracuse, NY Carrier Dome
Coverage
TV: CBS Radio: Washington ISP Sports Network Watch Online Gametracker

Go Huskies!

I don’t know for sure who came up this but alas, it must have been a good idea at the time i guess lol

The Smashing Book + New Glasses

I think everyone has heard or been part of a “What is an example of a good cover letter” before and unless your a recruiter or something it may not be completely obvious.

Today was i was going along my daily routine looking at some blogs i stumbled upon this article at smashingmagazine.com about writing a good cover letter. This article is of particular interest because it has feedback directly from companies that advertise on major web oriented job sites like krop.com,

It definitely covers a wide range of topics from structure, to formality and how to address a potential employer in your cover letter. There are also plenty of good examples to look over and you can skim through. The best thing about the examples is that they are geared to a more “web specific” job range like web developers and web designers, but to be quite honest a lot of the advice can go for virtually any field.

It is really worth taking a look if you are a designer or developer whis about to apply for a job and needs an idea of what a good cover letter should look like.
